This gang of mine…priceless.

A half century? I’m just getting started!

Yesterday was my 50th birthday. I didn’t write this yesterday because I was so busy basking in the joy of turning 50. I admit, it is one of those transitions that doesn’t seem appealing, until you are there. At least that’s my story.

There is something in the magic of knowing that this is the century that I chose to be born in. A century when this planet undergoes significant changes. I’ve seen so many in my lifetime. I’m of that generation that went from a 3 channel, one per household tube that sat in the living room to an entire media extravaganza. The information age. We are able to exchange information and ideas at a rate of perception that is astounding.

Our ideas about the world are changing rapidly and the thing about this much technology is that we all change with it differently. Some people are having to face giving up their rabbit ears and actually succumbing to the digital box. Imagine? They probably still have a phone that attaches to the wall. And then there are all of the young people in my life, children, grandchildren that are amerced in a culture of push button information. My children are adults and they are unaware of such a world where instant information isn’t available. My grandchildren are products of this changed world. My daughter and I bought my granddaughter a Barbie laptop for her birthday. She’s 6…..come on? Really? 6?

And so…I transition through this journey of my life with access to information that has opened my mind and heart to amazing possibilities. I’ve learned how to transition my pain and suffering and begun to see the secret of creating joy in my life. By owning that it IS my reality and I can direct it. The seat of power is within me supported by, and guided by something greater of a mystery I will seek my lifetime to understand The teachings are ancient, timeless really and yet this amazing age of technology has spread awareness like never before. It’s there for the choosing.

The simple view of the lessons that I’ve culminated over this half century is that IF I choose to focus on love, light, goodness, truth, beauty my days are filled with more love, light, goodness, truth and beauty. When my heart is open and I actually FEEL gratitude than my days are filled with joyful things to be grateful for. I don’t just say these things because I’ve heard them and like the way they sound. I FEEL these things.

The gift of time is that we get to take a long deep look at ourselves. To learn to know and love the soul, the inner being that is guiding us teaching our collective hearts to love. We are SO capable of that. We are more capable than most even grasp. We have the power to create an amazing world filled with joy. If that’s hard to believe, just look at how much pain we can create. Now image joy at the same magnitude. We are capable of it all. We can choose to feed the darkness and deny the light or we can choose to live in abundant joy and open hearts and end the suffering.

Yes, I joyfully embrace and have gratitude for being here. Still. Feeling better than ever. I am filled with gratitude for the guidance, love and teachings that made it possible for me to rejoice in this day. I have learned a great deal and I recognize that what I’ve learned has become information. The wisdom of our collective human minds is the power behind the world we are creating. Yes, it’s true, some create great tragedies with that power. The collective current thought for example of lack…of recession….of an unhealthy economy that seems to be robbing people of their life, their joy. And yet….we are not victims to our culture we have the wisdom and the power to be the creators of greatness.

I reach out to my world at this moment and I ask of it…please….open your hearts. Let some light in. Stop pretending you aren’t capable and start believing in something good. Stop blaming the rest of the world for what isn’t working for you and be responsible with your love. USE YOUR POWERS FOR GOOD!!!

I promise….I commit to doing the same.

And here is to the next half century….I know what is possible….I dream for us all.
